The flowers become heavy when fully open & the soft stem can collapse without support

cymbidium orchid: very long lasting flower that comes in many colours. The green are especially strong

ilex berries: long, bare stems, covered in red berries

lilies: remove the pollen as the blooms open to save stains.

hyacinths: short stems, strong scent – maybe too strong for some of your guests, so be careful! Cut the stems shorter as they grow & start to flop.

tulips: in my opinion, should be left until spring! But people do love them< & will always buy them.

Pointsettia plants: Lovely, red star-shaped flowers. They are quite fragile, & if the stem snaps, a white sap will ooze out. It’s poisonous to animals, so put out of reach of puppies & kittens!

Growing Christmas trees: There is a variety of small, growing fir trees, from 30cm – 1 metre high, suitable for small flats. They look really cute decorated & lit.

If you need flowers, call us on 020 7831 6776, or email janet@stemsfloraldesign.com

We are into the Chrsistmas season now, & have been making wreaths, garlands, dressing Christmas trees & making beautiful bouquets with berries, amaryllis, sparkly twigs & orchids.
