\"snowdrops\"<\/a>Happy New Year to all our customers, Twitter & Facebook followers & blog readers! The shop reopens on Monday 4th January, after a break since Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n

Although many flowers are grown all year round nowadays, it’s always good to stick to seasonal blooms where possible. There are many lovely winter\/spring flowers, including snowdrops, tulips, daffodils, anemones, ranunculus & hellebores. We put these with lovely stems of blossom or pussy willow for a really seasonal look.<\/p>\n

Tulips should be put in a small amount of water, & the stems chopped every couple of days. They carry on growing in the vase, & will twist & turn as they do so.<\/p>\n

Anemones like very cold water. The subject of many oil paintings, due to their rich colours & amazing texture, they are one of my favourite flowers.<\/p>\n

Ranunculus is in the buttercup family, & come in many colours. The beautiful, full “Cappuccino” is one to look out for.<\/p>\n

Daffodils epitomise spring for me – “And then my heart with pleasure fills, & dances with the daffodils.” I like them best on their own, & in large clusters.<\/p>\n

Many of these flowers don’t last long indoors, due to their high water content, & the fact that they like low temperatures. But they are relatively cheap to buy.<\/p>\n
