Summer at Stems of Windsor

Summer Bouquet for a special birthday

I loved creating this lovely, summery bouquet for a special birthday at The Monkey Island Hotel in Bray.

It contained garden style roses, allium, campanula, antirrhinums, Green Bell, limonium, grasses, poppy seed heads and clematis, and it was like summer in full bloom.

Delphiniums

These stunning delphiniums in two-tone are so beautiful. Tall and graceful, I like to leave them as long as possible in bouquets to add a real wow factor

Dried flowers for Adam Handling’s Restaurants

Dried flowers are very popular at the moment. As a forager for the past few decades, and lover of drying my own flowers, this project is the perfect one for me – grasses, gyp, limonium, scabious heads and craspedia.

I took part in a BBC Radio 4 programme this week, called Open Country, and talked about how Windsor Great Park has inspired my work as a floral designer. I took this bouquet with me to demonstrate how you can see my love of nature so clearly reflected in my pieces. This was taken at Obelisk pond, where we wer lucky enough to see a rhododendron still in bloom.

We had an new addition to the family this week, in the form of 8 week old cockapoo, whom we have named Daisy. It had to be a flower name!

I’m going to end with this lovely image of my late Mother and I in Windsor Great Park, near The Copper Horse, with me doing my favourite thing at 4 years of age – picking daisies!
