Flowers for all occasions

IMG_20141023_075607I awoke to a heavy mist, & a sliver of a moon with a bright north star as I walked my dog at 4.30am this morning. After a fun train journey to London Waterloo with my dear friend, Claire, we saw a beautiful, red sky from the bus over Waterloo Bridge, & the morning was filled with glorious, golden, autumn sunshine.

The oranges, golds & rusts of the flowers reflect that sunshine – warm & glowing.

One of our last customers of the day phoned, en route to London with his parents, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. I assume they’d stopped for a coffee break, & he sneaked off to organise flowers for their hotel room, to be put in place before their arrival. It was a rushed call, & he told me they’d be staying in the Grange Hotel, Holborn. I verified the address as Southampton Row & he confirmed that it was the correct address. Upon delivery, we were told there was no booking in that name – & that there are many Grange hotels in Bloomsbury. I must say, I think a good reception team, with a booking for three rooms, would have phoned around & discovered the right hotel, but that task was left to us. Phone call number three revealed that they were booked in at The Grange Blooms Hotel on Montague St., next to The British Museum.

I made a wrist corsage of limonium & eryngium thistle for a wedding guest at The Bloomsbury Ballroom tomorrow before leaving for the day.
